EDGE ON-PREM
Autonomy Edge, running locally.
Everything the cloud platform does, on hardware you own and on your own network. Your projects, your logic and your process data stay inside the plant and inside the company.

Local by design
A local Edge, inside your own network
Edge on-prem is installed on machines you own, on your own network. The platform, the virtual PLCs, the projects with their history and the AI model all sit inside your infrastructure, and none of it needs anything outside it.
Your network
Nothing crosses this line
Your data stays yours
The projects, the logic and what the virtual PLCs report live on your machines. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no copy of any of it in an account somewhere else.
No internet in the loop
No cloud account, no outbound connection, nothing to reach. It behaves the same on a network with no way out.
One machine, or several
Run the platform and the virtual PLCs together on a single machine, or split them across machines when you want more redundancy. That is your architecture decision, and the product follows it either way.
Everything the cloud platform does, on your own machines
Nothing is cut down to make it run locally. What changes is where it runs: the database and the projects sit on hardware you own.
Version control on the logic
Branches, commits and real diffs on the programs themselves, with the history of every project kept beside them.
Project storage, on your hardware
Every project lives in the platform's own database, on a machine of yours, and opens from any browser on the network.
Teams and permission management
Work on the same projects as a team, with the roles and the granular permissions the cloud platform has.
Fleet deployment and monitoring
Deploy to one virtual PLC or to all of them, and see which program is running where, from one place on your network.
AI, locally
The same AI, with the model on your hardware
Edge on-prem brings the assistance the cloud platform has, with the model running inside your own network. It is not a smaller version of it, and it is there when you want it.
CoPilot as you type
Suggestions while you write Structured Text or Python, in the editor you are already working in.
Ask, and it writes the code
The more autonomous mode: describe what you need in the chat and it writes the files and the code for you.
Nothing leaves your network, nothing is metered
The model runs on your own hardware, so your logic stays inside your walls and using the AI costs nothing per request.
Edge on-prem and Autonomy Node
Node runs locally too. They are built for different situations.
Autonomy Node puts the whole environment inside the controller, which is exactly what you want on small hardware out at the machine. Edge on-prem is the full platform on your own servers, so the limits that come with fitting everything into one small box do not apply to it.
The hardware it is built for
- Autonomy Node
- Smaller, more constrained hardware, with the set of capabilities that fits it.
- Edge on-prem
- Your own servers, with the whole platform's set of capabilities.
How it is put together
- Autonomy Node
- One piece of software with everything inside it, running on the device.
- Edge on-prem
- The platform and the virtual PLCs are separate pieces, so they can share a machine or sit on different ones.
Devices, the machines that run the virtual PLCs
- Autonomy Node
- A Node is a single Device. You can create several virtual PLCs on it, and all of them run on it.
- Edge on-prem
- More than one Device, each running its own virtual PLCs, anywhere on your network.
Teams and permissions
- Autonomy Node
- Logins, with fixed permissions and limited organisation features.
- Edge on-prem
- Organisations, roles and granular permissions, the same as the cloud platform.
Both are honest answers to different situations, and Node's own page says plainly what it leaves out.
See Autonomy NodeWhere Edge on-prem fits
The same OpenPLC toolchain runs in four places. Edge on-prem is the whole platform, on your own infrastructure, with nothing that needs the internet.
